The 1st City Public Sculpture Project is bringing contemporary public sculpture into the city of Vincennes.  During this time of pandemic, when art galleries are closed, this project is offering art experiences for the whole community to safely enjoy in outdoor settings.  Sculptors from across the nation have been invited to exhibit their works on a three-year loan basis.  A jury of professional artists and informed community members carefully selected works that are of high quality, accessible and safe.  Each year more sites will be added, expanding the scope and character of the project.  Grant funding has helped us achieve the goal of bringing art to a wider audience than has previously been possible in Vincennes.  We have been particularly focused on reaching people who have low incomes or disabilities.  The intent is to build on Vincennes’ rich heritage of historic art and architecture by adding in art that reflects our current times. The community has been positively impacted by having these additional inspiring artworks in their daily environments.
